About Us

Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa provides a reliable source of food for the Contra Costa Community. Over the years our program has grown to having 5 dining rooms throughout Contra Costa County, providing a food pantry at each dining room. Our main focus is providing a hot nutritious meal, but we have and will try to do more for our clients when the opportunity arises. Last fiscal year we served more than 138,000 meals to people who were in need of food and cannot provide it for themselves or their family. The mission of Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa is to provide community-based food programs and partner services that focus on basic needs. We nourish lives! Under our mission of “Nourishing Lives” we have expanded our main mission by starting a FREE 10 week Culinary Arts Training Program for adults experiencing barriers to employment. This workforce development program is taking place at our Martinez Dining Room, but is open to all residents of Contra Costa. The culinary program includes training in the basics of a commercial kitchen, job retention and life skills. Students are introduced to the robust Culinary Arts program at Diablo Valley College, and have assistance in obtaining jobs in the culinary field. Upon completion, each student earn the requisite Safety and Sanitation License required by law for all food-related services workers.
