Go Behind the Scenes at ARF – Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation
Community Invitation to the January 'Second Saturday Spotlight'
Community members are invited to take a behind-the-scenes look at Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation as Walnut Creek Mayor Cindy Silva launches her 2019 “2nd Saturday Spotlight” series. On January 12, Mayor Silva and ARF staff will provide a peek behind the curtain at the not-for-profit organization’s facility, which has rescued more than 40,000 cats and dogs since its launch in 1991.
While most people who visit ARF are looking for a four-legged friend to bring home, this visit will introduce community members to the operation itself, and what it takes to provide rescue and adoption services on such a huge scale. The “2nd Saturday Spotlight” series will continue throughout 2019, with a visit to a wide variety of non-profit organizations headquartered in Walnut Creek. Following the tours, Mayor Silva will lead a brief walking tour of the surrounding neighborhoods, helping to form community connections. February’s tour will be at the Lesher Center for the Arts.
The free January 12 ARF tour begins at 9:00 a.m., and pre-registration is requested. Space is limited, and tours are available for adults and kids 14 and older only.
