Who: The Harlem Wizards vs Northgate LEAPERS
What: Fundraising Show Basketball Game full of tricks and alley-oops!
Why: To Support the JFK University LEAP Program and Northgate HS Athletics
The Harlem Wizards are returning to Northgate High School in Walnut Creek for the second year in a row to do loops and alley-oops around your local teachers and administrators. Hosted by the John F. Kennedy University Sport Psychology Department, this rollicking show-style basketball game will benefit the Solt Evans LEAP Program and Northgate High School athletics.
This year’s event will feature a whole new crew of Harlem Wizards from last year’s, rolling in with their very own set of shenanigans. Roars of laughter and positive vibes will be raised, not to mention crucial funds for the LEAP Program and the underserved youth it works with.
The LEAP Program empowers its kids by hooking them up with the very same mental skills training and support that sport psychologists offer their athletes, and that can effect powerful shifts both on the field and off. “Our work is unique,” explains LEAP Program Coordinator Dan Ourian. “This event is a way to raise awareness about LEAP but also to raise funds so our work can continue.”
Bring your friends, bring your family, and come be a part of the vital link the LEAP Program makes between mental skills resources and the youth in your community who need them most. Chances are you’ll also get to see your math teacher try to dribble around a professional ball player!
